What's happening at headquarters?
ICWUC Local gets a $13,000.00 refund from the IRS The Accounting Clerks at ICWUC Headquarters look at monthly reports as they come in for any irregularities or expenses or income of an unusual nature. Lois Bennett, one of those Accounting Clerks, noticed a large check a local union had written to the IRS. She immediately advised President Cyphers of the unusual check. After President Cyphers and Secretary-Treasurer Villanova investigated the reason for the check, Secretary-Treasurer Villanova wrote to the IRS attempting to get relief for the local union. The matter was finally resolved with the local union receiving a little over $13,000.00 in a refund from the IRS. This refund happened because Ms. Bennett was alert while checking the monthly report and Secretary-Treasurer Villanova was able to negotiate that amount in a refund from the IRS for the local union. This is just one of the many ways the ICWUC Headquarters’ staff works behind the scenes for our local unions. Great job for our members, Lois and Greg! |
