ICWUC Celebrates the Election of Milton Jones as UFCW International President

The International Chemical Workers Union Council (ICWUC) is thrilled to congratulate Milton Jones on his election as the new International President of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW). This leadership change marks a significant milestone for the UFCW and its affiliates, including the ICWUC.
Milton Jones, who has dedicated over 45 years to the UFCW, transitions from his role as International Secretary-Treasurer to lead the union into a promising future. His journey, beginning as a 16-year-old courtesy clerk at Kroger in Florence, Alabama, exemplifies his deep commitment to advocating for workers’ rights and advancing the union’s mission.
The ICWUC also extends congratulations to Shawn Haggerty, elected as International Secretary-Treasurer, and Lisa Pedersen, now serving as Executive Vice President. Together, they bring a wealth of experience and a shared vision for empowering union members across the U.S. and Canada.
Reflecting on the legacy of outgoing President Marc Perrone, who has led the union through numerous challenges, the ICWUC acknowledges his contributions in strengthening the UFCW’s resolve and unity. Perrone’s confidence in Jones’s leadership reassures us of a continued focus on improving the lives of our members.
As Milton Jones steps into his new role, the ICWUC looks forward to supporting his efforts to champion fair wages, safer working conditions, and equitable opportunities. His commitment to collaboration and building upon the union’s strong foundation aligns with our goals of advocating for the well-being of our members and their families.
We are excited to witness the positive impact of this leadership transition and remain committed to working alongside the UFCW to ensure a brighter future for all workers. Congratulations to Milton Jones and the newly elected officers as they lead us into this exciting new chapter.
