Workers Memorial Day 2024

Today, ICWUC commemorated Workers Memorial Day, the international annual day of remembrance honoring workers who have been killed, injured, disabled, or harmed in the workplace.

This day serves as a reminder that we need to continue to organize and strengthen our commitment for workplaces with stronger safety and health protections. When the nation first observed Workers Memorial Day on April 28, 1970, an estimated 38 U.S. workers suffered fatal on-the-job injuries each day and many more endured debilitating respiratory diseases and other life-altering illnesses related to workplace exposures.

Today and everyday, ICWUC stands with workers to ensure everyone feels safe at work and has the right to join a union to hold employers accountable and fight for stronger safety standards.

We value all our fallen workers and offer their families our support, compassion and appreciation.
